No. 02 / In my own words

Hi,
I’m Mara.

Heavily tattooed hands wearing silver and turquoise rings
Ten years of practice pieces, worn daily

I’ve been tattooing for ten years — six of them in a loud East Village shop, the last four on my own, in a quiet room above a bakery in Greenpoint.

Most of what I do is neo-traditional colour: big flowers, animals, odd little still lifes, heavy black outlines holding soft colour. I take two clients a day at most, never rush a line, and only tattoo designs I’d be happy to see again in ten years.

Every month I paint a new sheet of one-off flash. When a design is claimed it comes off the sheet for good — nobody else will ever wear it. The rest of my time goes to custom pieces, drawn from scratch around your idea and your body.

Recent work.

Everything here was drawn, tattooed and photographed by me. Healed shots wherever clients send them back — that’s the real test.

No. 06 / Questions

Asked often.

The things people ask me most. If yours isn’t here, just write — I answer every email myself.

How does claiming flash work?

Hit “Claim” on a design and tell me the placement and a few days that suit you. I confirm within three days; a $100 deposit locks it in and the design comes off the sheet for good.

Can I change a flash design?

Small tweaks, yes — a colour swap, a different flower, a name in the banner. Bigger changes turn it into a custom piece, which is quoted separately.

What should I send for a custom request?

Placement, a rough size in inches, two or three reference images and a sentence about what the piece means to you. A daylight photo of the area helps me plan the flow.

Do you do cover-ups or fine line?

Cover-ups case by case — send a clear photo and I’ll be honest about what is possible. I don’t do fine-line or micro work; my lines are bold on purpose, and I’m happy to point you to someone great.

Is the deposit refundable?

No, but you can move your date once with 72 hours’ notice. The deposit always comes off the final price of your tattoo.
